A BRIEF HISTORY

​

After getting tattooed at a young age Micky soon realised that he was hooked  and followed his love for the art for many years, regularly getting tattooed by many various artists.

​

He started a career as a body piercer, and before long was offered a position at a local studio where he was also offered the opportunity to work as a tattooist.

​

He left this studio after a few years after a non-reconcilable disagreement with the studio owner and decided to open his own shop. Naming the studio KI INK AND STEEL. Ki translates from Japanese to Spirit.

​

His "Shop Manager" is his wife Dayna who does everything except tattoo!

His Father Mick was also a regular at the studio helping in the everyday running of things.

​

He soon gathered a great client base and decided to stop body piercing to focus 100% on tattooing.

 

The first studio was compulsory purchased by the council and then RENSHI'S TATTOO ASYLUM was conceived and the  Church Street Shop was opened.

​

During the 13+ years there, the shop hosted a vast array of international guest artists including Robert Hernandez, Liorcifer, Dan Marshall, Tim Kern, Jeremiah Barba, Benjamin Moss as well as others, who he now regards as great friends.

​

Once again the shop fell victim to a greedy landlord and it was decided to build our own private studio. this is fully licenced and registered with the local authorities and is the next chapter in the saga!

​

The newest incarnation may be a smaller version of the Church Street studio but we feel that we have captured a more comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. 

​

Micky continues to push forwards and try to develop as a tattoo artist and still hopes to get the next step up the ladder.

​

Micky has guested at several studios and has worked at various tattoo conventions but he is always more comfortable and at home in his own little corner of Dragonham!
